Spa-Francorchamps made a welcome return to the Formula One Grand Prix calendar in 2010 with a revised start/finish line and a wider track at La Source hairpin. Spa's first bend still represents a leap of faith with a clean exit into the descent to Eau Rouge bringing a sigh of relief.
Why should I attend the Belgian F1 Grand Prix?
- Like the Monaco Grand Prix, pole position here has added benefits. After the spine-tingling start the Spa circuit rises and falls in spectacular fashion through the forests of the Ardennes, making it unique on the F1 calendar. Drivers love the challenge the Belgian Grand Prix represents, and spectators love to watch from Spa's legendary bends and vantage points amongst the trees
- “One of the world’s most beautiful race tracks” set picturesque town of Spa, the Circuit Spa-Francorchamps is popular among motor sports fans for decades. Only Monza, Monaco and the Ring in Germany have equal histori backgrounds. Where better to watch McLaren's exciting young British starlet Lewis Hamilton take on world renowned drivers and continue his meteoric rise up the Formula One ranks?
- Brussels, the Capital of Europe is still the most popular location for race fans. This bustling city, 85 miles from Spa, promises a lively stay. The elegance of the historic Grand Place, and accommodation at the luxurious Crowne Plaza Europa Hotel, make this an ideal base for those travelling by air or Eurostar.
The 2009 Begian Grand Prix was extraordinary event for Spa. In mixed conditions race strategy played a big role. In the end, Hamilton showed his talent once more only to be controversially given a penalty by the stewarts and loosing victory afterwards. He was then relegated to third place behind Massa and Heidfeld.
